Size finder
SHIBUI sizes are given as garment flat measurements, which run differently from US, EU, UK and Asian region standards. Base garments come from different makers, so actual measurements can differ by 1–2 cm. Enter your measurements or select your usual local size below and we'll find your match.
Your recommended SHIBUI size
Adjust the sliders on the left to find your size.
All measurements are the garment's flat dimensions. Add 8–10 cm to chest and 4–6 cm to waist for a comfortable wearing ease.
Quick reference: find your usual local size in the left column to see the equivalent SHIBUI / Japanese size.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape horizontal. Breathe normally — do not pull tight or leave too much slack. This is the most important measurement for tops.
Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually about 2–3 cm above your navel. Keep one finger under the tape for comfort. For shirts, this determines if the hem sits well.
Hip
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. Particularly relevant for our tote bag and placemat sizing, and for women's garment fit.
Height
Stand barefoot against a wall, look straight ahead, and measure from the floor to the top of your head. This affects the length and sleeve length of our T-shirts and Oxford shirts.
Between sizes?
SHIBUI pieces are cut for a relaxed, unstructured fit. If you fall between sizes, we recommend the larger size. Kakishibu-dyed fabric stiffens slightly — it softens beautifully with washing and wear over time.
